What is NSU's "Think Tank"NSU Think Tank allows you submit Ideas for making change within the Students’ Union and lobbying for change within the University; examples include, wanting to change something on your course, run a particular event or activity, or even praise an individual or group and raise recognition of their achievement.
How does it work? Once your Idea has been submitted through the Think Tank application, the executive committee will be made aware of your Idea, and we’ll upload your Idea to be voted upon (typically within 5 working days of receiving the Idea). Your Idea will then be live for two weeks for you and other students to vote upon. We’ll email you the link to your Idea so that you can promote your Idea throughout your own social media platforms, and NSU will also promote current Ideas through our social media channels. At the end of the voting period, your Idea will need to have been voted on by at least 30 students, and scored at least 50% + 1 to achieve a PASS, eg. 16 students would need to vote YES for the Idea to PASS. If your Idea passes, either the Inclusion and Communities Coordinator or the Employability and Voice Coordinator will email you with an update and they will work with your Officers to ensure your Idea is put into practice. ConductStandards of conduct for NSU Think Tank are as follows:
ComplaintsAny complaints regarding an Idea for NSU Think Tank should be raised formally, in writing, by emailing [email protected].
The General Manager will anonymise the complaint and form a panel consisting of the President and Vice President of NSU, as they are non-voting members. They will be asked to consider the complaint to be valid, and formalise what action should be taken. Should there be a tie between the two elected Officers; the General Manager will be responsible for splitting the tie. Any Think Tank Idea may be removed or automatically failed in answer to a complaint. No complaints will be accepted 28 days after an Idea has closed its voting period. |
