About Me!
You may have read on my website's homepage a little bit of information about who I am, but here is the central place for info about me and what i want to do in a second term as Students' Union President
My Undergraduate Degree and University Experience!
I completed my undergraduate degree in 2019 in Sport and Exercise Psychology. While I was studying for my degree I was what the union would define as an un-engaged student, while i was a course rep throughout my studies, I very rarely got involved in union democracy or events. I did however play for the university football teams during my time as a student. In January 2019, I decided to run for President of the Students' Union after talking with my friends about the role and what I could bring to the union. Outside of University! My passions outside of university are very similar to those listed above; I have been playing football from a young age and if i'm not playing football you will probably find me playing video or board games such as Hearthstone, Gears of War and Super Fight, the card game! I also love going on holiday and like to travel to Florida! My first term as President! My first term as president has been a massive learning curve, but also one of the best experiences of my life. One of my biggest challenges was having to very quickly learn how effectively manage the executive committee to hit the targets that they set for themselves. My first year in office was not all gloom and doom however, we had a very successful year as a team with lots of exceptional campaigns and events that more students than ever re getting involved in! During my first term I have also been involved in empowering students to achieve their own potential and run their own campaigns for change, such as the Black and Minority Ethnicity Panel who have had meetings with multiple departments setting recommendations as they went. One of my personal "Wins" for the year has been the near full implementation of Lecture Capture across the university which is going to be discussed in the March 25th Senate. So what's next? Well as you're on this website you'll know that I am running for a second term as president! This first term in office has really focused my attention on to the most important issues that Newman Students face, and I aim to tackle them front and center to benefit all Newman Students. |
